“Beatriz at Dinner” is heavily driven by ideological contrasts, especially between a working-class immigrant healer and wealthy elites. Character dynamics seem crafted more to embody political and identity markers than to serve organic storytelling or nuanced character arcs. The protagonist’s identity, race and profession, drives the narrative and message above all else.

The film often positions traditional success (wealth, business, masculinity) as inherently oppressive or spiritually bankrupt, while exalting alternative worldviews almost unquestioningly. Religion and family structures are marginalized, serving only as backdrops or objects of critique, rather than respected parts of the narrative.

Alternative viewpoints, especially non-woke or traditional perspectives, are consistently portrayed through caricatured, villainous, or clueless characters. There’s very little nuance; the film’s moral center is fixed and never sincerely questioned, suggesting a strong monoculture of ideology.
