Detention (2012) is a chaotic teen horror-comedy that winks at identity themes but keeps its focus on snark, meta-humor, and genre satire. Diversity is present, but characters aren't defined exclusively by modern identity categories, and the plot isn’t sacrificed for ideology. It’s mostly about style and subversive humor rather than overt message delivery.

The film satirizes high school tropes and pokes fun at everything, family, relationships, authority, but it does so in a nihilistic, anyone’s-fair-game kind of way.
