Double Dragon is a straightforward '90s action romp. The film prioritizes basic good vs. evil storytelling over social messaging. Characters are chosen for action tropes, not as vehicles for identity politics. Gender, race, or sexuality play virtually no role in the narrative, and the focus remains squarely on the plot's zany martial arts antics.

Family bonds and loyalty drive the story, with the Lee brothers' dynamic firmly at center stage. There's no major effort to undermine religion, family, masculinity, or longstanding tradition. Masculinity is not pathologized, and no character is presented as being above consequences due to identity. Classic hero archetypes are largely left intact.

There is little to no ideological messaging in Double Dragon. Traditional good vs. evil is the framework, and there’s no effort to villainize alternative worldviews or push a singular political narrative. The villains are evil because they’re villains, not because they’re stand-ins for real-world ideologies.
