In our view, 'Father of the Bride' (2022) leans hard into forced representation, with identity-driven casting and plot points that sometimes overshadow natural character development. Ethnic backgrounds are front and center, with plenty of generational and cultural identity talk, rather than focusing on universal family dynamics. The story sometimes feels tailored to include topical themes.

The film reinterprets the traditional wedding/family formula, frequently spotlighting cultural clashes and modern twists on gender roles, marriage, and family.
