‘On Probation’ is a gritty Argentinian comedy-drama that prioritizes flawed, realistic characters over political checklists. Casting and characterization don’t appear driven by forced diversity or assumptions about identity politics. The plot stands on its own without bending over backwards to deliver a message. It’s refreshingly non-woke in this department.

There’s little evidence of any agenda to undermine family, masculinity, or traditional values. Instead, the film uses dark humor and grounded scenarios to examine fallible, everyday people. If anything, it pokes fun at everyone equally, rather than elevating or attacking specific cultural foundations.

Alternative perspectives aren’t demonized; characters are allowed to be rough around the edges, and the narrative doesn’t force everyone into one narrow worldview. While not overtly traditional, it avoids “approved” ideological groupthink. There’s genuine conflict and pluralism.
