Planet 51 sticks to a classic fish-out-of-water story with simple character motivations. There’s little emphasis on modern identity issues, character traits focus more on personality than checking diversity boxes. It’s mostly just straightforward fun, not layered with ideological virtue-signaling, forced representation, or overpowered characters chosen for “inclusivity.”

The film parodies 1950s American culture and small-town values, but mostly with affection rather than deconstruction. Traditional family, friendship, and personal bravery are framed positively. If anything, masculinity and bravery are playfully lampooned but not demonized or pathologized, making any undermining very mild by modern standards.

Alternative worldviews aren’t a focus, but there’s little sign of demonizing traditional perspectives either. The film's humor and conflict rely on miscommunication, not on mocking traditional values or pushing a single “approved” worldview. It’s more about fun, alien misunderstandings, and poking fun at sci-fi tropes than pushing any ideological message.
