“Surveillance” focuses on a tense crime thriller narrative without obvious emphasis on identity politics. The cast appears driven by the story's needs rather than forced diversity or representation. There’s little evidence that ideology overtakes plot or character motivation, so the film maintains narrative integrity by sticking to genre conventions.

There’s minimal subversion of traditional gender roles, morality, or family values. The film’s gritty, violent story world isn’t especially concerned with portraying cultural or religious traditions either way, but it doesn’t undermine them. In our view, “Surveillance” remains fairly neutral in its approach.

No strong ideological agenda is forced on the viewer. Alternative perspectives are present and failings are depicted as human rather than political or moral failings. Not much wokeness to see here – just small-town darkness and psychological tension.
