Destiny 2’s narrative generally prioritizes the space-fantasy plot, but character diversity is quite front-and-center. The inclusion of various gender and race representations is clearly intended, though not always detrimental to the story. While some characters may seem elevated or flawless, the narrative doesn’t entirely sacrifice worldbuilding for ideology, but the focus does occasionally slip toward box-checking.

Destiny 2 largely sidesteps traditional religion and family, crafting its own morality, which some might interpret as a sidestep around cultural foundations. Masculinity isn’t ridiculed per se, but strong female and diverse characters are given prominence, sometimes overshadowing the stoic hero trope.

There's a clear ideological direction: almost everyone in the world of Destiny 2 shares the same progressive attitudes. Dissent or alternative traditional views are pretty much nonexistent outside of generic villainy, creating a somewhat bland moral landscape.
