Character arcs frequently prioritize representation, with narrative turns appearing motivated more by ideology than organic development. This could leave some viewers feeling that the story is shoehorning identity themes rather than allowing them to arise naturally from the plot.

The show reinterprets traditional gender roles and Norwegian military service through a modern lens, challenging legacy values around masculinity and national service. Family and patriotism are either sidelined or treated ironically, with the main themes revolving around critiquing institutions rather than celebrating them. This approach can easily be seen as undermining established cultural norms.

'Conscription' offers little to no sincere representation of traditional perspectives on service or gender roles. Dissenting voices are often presented as out-of-touch or used for comic relief. There is a clear sense of ideological uniformity, with alternative viewpoints dismissed rather than engaged with meaningfully. It's the hive mind in uniform, so to speak.
