Deadly Class features a diverse ensemble and sometimes leans into trendy representation, but it keeps most characters flawed and complex, fitting the cutthroat setting. While it occasionally feels like identity factors overshadow personality, the story generally remains focused on grim coming-of-age themes rather than pure activism.

Traditional values like religion or family are often portrayed as sources of trauma or hypocrisy for the young assassins. The show definitely challenges conventional gender roles and morality, mostly presenting adult authority as corrupt or irrelevant. Masculinity gets a harsh treatment at times, with ‘toxic masculinity’ themes front and center.
