Helstrom, while not aggressively ideological, still leans into casting and character beats that appear chosen to check a few diversity boxes, sometimes at the expense of developing deeper, more interesting personalities. The story structure mostly suits the genre, but aspects of identity occasionally overshadow organic plot progression, especially in sibling dynamics.

The show tends to paint religion, particularly Catholicism, as sinister or at best quaint, which is pretty standard fare these days. Traditional family and moral themes are muddled by supernatural elements and a recurring embrace of morally ambiguous anti-heroes, rather than upholding time-tested values.

There's not much space given to sincerely traditional worldviews, most authority figures or dissenters come off as either obstacles or punchlines. No real debate or diversity of outlook. Nearly everyone falls in line with the modern, morally gray antihero aesthetic, with alternative voices barely getting a look-in.
