Hyperdrive presents some emphasis on identity and representation, with a visibly diverse cast, particularly highlighting women and minorities in prominent roles. However, the show’s competitive racing format ensures that personality and skill still play a central part, preventing total narrative derailment. It’s clear that some cast choices were influenced by a desire for visible representation.

The show is fairly neutral when it comes to family, faith, or traditional values, it mostly focuses on car culture and competition. There are moments where traditional masculinity is played down in favor of a more inclusive ethos, but it largely avoids overt moralizing or re-writing cultural norms.

While Hyperdrive is clearly interested in projecting inclusivity, it doesn’t outright mock or villainize those who don’t fit its mold.
