In our view, "Irma Vep" often places identity and politics above character depth or plot coherence. Character backgrounds and personal struggles seem written to explicitly highlight modern ideological themes, sometimes at the expense of genuine development or narrative flow. The show’s focus appears more on making statements than telling an engaging story.

Traditional gender roles and cultural heritage are regularly undermined or made objects of irony. Notably, masculinity is portrayed as either bumbling or outdated, while progressive views are favored. The arts and French cinema traditions are reimagined through a self-aware, 'enlightened' lens that feels more corrective than respectful.

Dissenting views are mostly absent or reduced to unsympathetic caricatures, while the entire cast seemingly embraces the same prevailing ideological attitudes. There’s little space for alternative or traditional perspectives, and when they do appear, they're not taken seriously.
