'Over Christmas' keeps the story genuinely character-focused, with identity factors playing little to no distracting role. Its protagonist is relatable, flawed, awkward, and struggling, not some handpicked messiah of the woke agenda. Casting feels organic within the small-town German setting, with none of the forced diversity or 'box-ticking' seen elsewhere.

The show revolves around classic themes: family, relationships, tradition, and reconciliation. Religion and family aren't mocked, they're the emotional anchor, though there is occasional modern skepticism toward tradition. Still, the show leaves these roots mostly intact, making it refreshingly non-woke by today’s standards.

While 'Over Christmas' doesn't go out of its way to highlight dissenting worldviews, it also doesn't aggressively promote modern ideological talking points. Traditional perspectives are allowed complexity instead of being made into strawmen or villains. It's not a political think-piece and stays out of the culture war for the most part.
