A number of characters are defined more by their demographic checkboxes than by compelling personal arcs, and some plotlines get overshadowed by social commentary at the expense of suspense or world-building.

The series shows a penchant for subverting traditional family values and morality, painting established authority (including religious figures) as antagonistic or outdated. Masculinity is often framed as toxic, with family units in perpetual dysfunction, clearly aiming to challenge cultural norms.

Dissenting voices are overwhelmingly depicted as backward, villainous, or hysterical, with little room for nuance. There's a strong sense of ideological conformity among the 'good' characters, and alternative viewpoints rarely get sincere exploration or redemption arcs.
