Between Worlds mostly sticks to genre tropes without shoehorning in identity politics. Character choices and development are driven by plot and relationships, not modern ideological priorities. Casting feels organic, and identity traits are not pushed to the foreground at the expense of story. Frankly, it's more focused on being a surreal, soapy thriller than a cultural lecture.

The film does not target religion, family, or masculinity for mockery or deconstruction. While it features damaged characters, their dysfunction is rooted in personal trauma rather than pointed attacks on traditional values. There's little effort at rewriting history or reinterpreting classic myths for modern messaging, what you see is pure pulp.

Alternative worldviews aren't really the point here. The film is more interested in spiritual weirdness and supernatural melodrama than making a statement on social issues. There are no cartoonish villains representing traditional views, nor does the cast all exhibit identical, modern moral stances. Ideology seems refreshingly absent.
