In our view, 'Living for the Dead' places identity front and center, building its entire premise around a team of LGBTQ+ paranormal investigators. Characterization frequently centers on sexuality and self-expression rather than deep skill or organic personality, making it feel more like a showcase for representation than an exploration of the supernatural. Narrative focus seems sacrificed for ideology-driven casting.

Traditional values (religion, family structure, masculinity) are notably absent or seen only in a reframed, unconventional light throughout the show. Spirituality is explored, but through a new-age, non-traditional lens. There’s a definite sense that longstanding cultural foundations are not just sidelined, but actively reworked to fit a particular modern narrative.

Alternative worldviews, especially any traditional or dissenting perspectives, are virtually nonexistent or only shown as problems to be overcome. The show seems content to celebrate its singular vision, rarely, if ever, providing meaningful internal conflict or pluralism.
