In our view, 'STHLM Blackout' appears to place a heavy emphasis on diversity and identity markers, with casting choices and character arcs often feeling more like a checklist than organic storytelling. Traditional character development tends to take a backseat to showcasing socially topical issues, which some viewers may find distracts from narrative cohesion and realism.

The show frequently questions or derides traditional values, portraying institutions like family and religion as out of touch or even problematic. Masculinity is especially sidelined, with male characters often shown as either inept or morally compromised, in contrast to flawless or highly principled female and queer characters.
