Utopia (2020) dives deep into identity-driven casting, often foregrounding character background over their deeper development. Several leads seem chosen more for representational diversity than narrative fit, with some characters skirting the edge of being over-competent. The ideological themes at times distract from what could be a tighter sci-fi thriller, making the story feel more a vehicle for messaging than pure entertainment.
