Gen V puts identity front and center, often prioritizing progressive themes over character depth or storytelling. Characters are defined by race, gender, sexuality, or trauma more than internal growth or classic heroism. Representation sometimes feels obligatory, and plots occasionally take a backseat to topical checklists, which can undermine real engagement.

Masculinity is frequently depicted as toxic or suspect, while traditional family or religious values are either absent or portrayed through a cynical, critical lens. Female and LGBTQ+ characters are consistently given center stage as morally or emotionally superior, like a woke casting playbook come to life.

Alternative or dissenting views are either mocked, villainized, or presented as cartoonishly evil. There's little attempt at genuine ideological diversity, if you don't share the 'approved' worldview, you're either a bigot, a villain, or a punchline. It feels very much like a closed loop.
